Play a part in encoding the world’s writing systems by donating to SEI.
Funds go towards paying specialists and students to conduct research on specific scripts, and help cover research travel, administrative costs, and website maintenance.
Ways to Donate
Go to the secure website for the Script Encoding Initiative Fund and make your donation there. You will receive official acknowledgement of your contribution, and our heartfelt thanks!
You can also make a donation to the Script Encoding Initiative with your credit card by calling UC Berkeley Gift Services at +1.510.643.9789, stating that the donation should go to Script Encoding Initiative (fund number FU1226000)
Personal Checks (in U.S. dollars) should be made out to “UC Berkeley Foundation”, with “Script Encoding Initiative” written on the memo line, and sent to:

If a letter accompanies the check, it should specify that the money is a “gift.”
FAQs
Can I use employer matching when I donate to SEI?
Yes! If donating online through UC Berkeley, refer to the Employer Matching Gift Search to see if your company participates in matching charitable gifts.
If donating online through Benevity, you can make a donation with 100% funds matching from your employer with the Benevity mobile app or website.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes, donations are tax-deductible in the US within the limits as prescribed by law (see IRS Publication 526).

ln order to receive it, please send an email with “WWS Poster” in the subject line and include a copy of the donation receipt, your mailing address, and the preferred poster edition (A, B, or C).
