Several SEI-supported scripts were accepted for inclusion in Unicode 17.0 (Sidetic, Tolong Siki, Beria Erfe) and the upcoming 18.0 release (Seal). Work continues on a range of historic and modern scripts from different regions for future releases.

This year saw the hire of program manager Helena Kansa and formal launch of the Research Fellows program. SEI was also awarded an NSF research grant to investigate neographies, which will bring a new postdoc onboard. We continue to be funded by the Mellon and ISOC foundations.
